Scanning with AdSecure
Find here frequently asked questions about scanning with AdSecure
How does scanning ads work in AdSecure?
You can analyze ads by submitting an ad tag or site page to AdSecure via our frontend application or via API. By selecting the relevant locations, devices and alerts, AdSecure will use its crawler to analyze the submitted content with the selected parameters, and provide a fully detailed report of each analysis.
What are the benefits of frequent scanning?
Since ads are likely to show different behavior from one moment to another, it’s important to scan frequently to increase your chances to catch any malicious or non-compliant activity when it’s present. This approach will keep the detection rate as high as possible.
How long does it take to complete a scan?
Depending on the scan, it usually takes between a few seconds and 2 minutes to complete a real-time scan using our modern browser technology.
Which locations are available to scan?
AdSecure maintains a comprehensive proxy network that includes datacenter, residential, and mobile carrier IPs in many countries around the world, and we expand our reach frequently. Click here to see more details.
What is the difference between Standard IPs, Residential IPs and Mobile IPs?
Scanning with standard IPs is sufficient in a majority of cases and AdSecure provides this type of bandwidth unlimited in all of our available monthly plans. We recommend using residential proxies when you have reason to suspect ad cloaking or IP blacklisting activity. Mobile IPs are the optimal choice for all ad campaigns running on a specific mobile provider.
Where can I see the outcome of an analysis?
All analyses are available in the Analyses section, via the left side navigation menu. By using the different filters and views you can choose to only display analyses that contain violations and/or alerts, and narrow down results according to needs.
How to search for analyses in AdSecure?
The search bar in the Analyses menu allows searching on multiple keywords. When these keywords are separated by a blank space, all of the keywords are taken into account when returning relevant analyses.
Searching can be done on:
- Name
- Location
- Device
- Country
- Requests (any part of the redirection path)
How does consumption work?
Each analysis consumes 1 or more scans and an X amount of bandwidth.
Scans
The analysis of 1 ad (url, script, smart link…), from 1 location and from 1 device consumes 1 scan. When selecting 2 locations and 4 devices, each iteration will consume 8 scans (and will result in 8 separate analyses).
Data usage
Depending on the chosen type of location (Standard, Residential or Mobile), the respective amount of consumed bandwidth will be deducted from your monthly quota.
Having the feature Ad Discovery enabled in the project creation or quick analysis creation screen, will result in additional consumption of scans and bandwidth per analysis.
Content Classification usage
Having the feature Content Classification enabled will result in the consumption of content classification units.
You can keep track of your current usage of scans, data and content classification units at any moment in the Dashboard menu in your AdSecure application.
What is Threat Intelligence and when to use it?
Threat Intelligence is a service that provides insight regarding a specific URL's violation activity. It provides an indication on a scale from 0 to 5 of how risky you can consider the URL is, and how problematic the behaviour of a particular URL will be.
Threat Intelligence acts as the first line of defense against malicious activity, allowing ad operations and compliance teams to understand the danger associated with their campaigns before they have been launched.
Do you have an API?
Our API allows you to integrate our services with your own platform to completely automate your scanning process.
